Anti-Procrastination Day! Thursday Tool for Thyme

Good morning! It is a new day. I have showered, dressed to shoes, made my bed,  re-booted my laundry and cleaned my sink. These are tools that I have learned from FlyLady that have helped me to manage my time. I also read my "Girlfriends in God" devotional this morning. What do you think it was about today? Managing time, of course! Learning to say NO when you know you have too much going on is so difficult. I want to say "YES" to everyone and please others. With the onset of fibromyalgia, I have had to learn to say "NO" and I have had to be realistic in my daily goals. My goals today are very simple, but when complete, will help me feel like I did something productive. My goals today are to give a dog a haircut and clean my desk. Just two tasks-but two realistic tasks. Take a moment to read the article on "Saying NO to the Yes Monster". I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Great Bite-Sized Goals

Continuing on the theme of bite-sized tasks, this article has practical suggestions that make organization simple, with just a few steps.

Bite-Size Tasks for today

I start each day with my morning routine and then set off to accomplish minimum of one or two goals. I am not talking about a HUGE undertaking, but a bite-sized task. My tasks for today are very manageable. I am going to trim one of the dog's hair and take down the Christmas knic knacs. I am not going to attempt to clean ALL the Christmas decor, simply the knic knacs. I think if I just do one Christmas clean-up task each day, then in a week, the house will be cleaned up!  I am not going to try and groom all six dogs, either...just one!

'Today's Bite Sized Goals:
  • Bite one: trim one dog.
  • Bite two: collect Christma knic knacs.
Anyone can accomplish two tasks. If I set realistic goals then I feel statisfied and less frustrated.  How do you manage your days so that you don't get frustrated?

Let's Start at the Very Beginning

Where to start with a blog. A new adventure and a lofty goal. I am committing to writing this blog and sharing tidbits of my life. I have a full life and there must be something that I can share that might help someone else.  I have brainstormed with ideas and filled pages and pages. So my task has been to dwindle the ideas into bite sizes. That's it: BITE sizes. Everything in my life has to be bite sized or I get overwhelmed. So the bite sized topics, for now, will be:

Momma Bear's Monday Musings inner thoughts of a Momma Bear
Thrifty Tuesdays - Tips on Couponing, Saving and Shopping
Wednesday's Wonder of Learning tips for Homeschooling and learning
Thursday Tools for Thyme  My anti-procrastination day and day to make home improvements...tools for making the best use of my time
Looking Forward Fridays My planning day: planning calendar, menu, appointments, bill schedule
Saturday Steps  Life in a Step-Family is never boring
Sunday Songs Songs for my Savior, inspiration for the soul

So what do you think? I would love suggestions! Remembering that this blog, just like my life, is always a work in progress. I can plan all I want, but life has a way of making its own paths.

Here We Go

Blogging? Hmmmm....going to try it again! I have so many things going on and I could write a book, or blog. Blogging seems more manageable right now. I just got out of the hospital yesterday, after emergency surgery, so anything I write today will be less than cohesive. But, hey, I got the blog set up! Be on the lookout for more. I am homeschooling my step-daughter, helping my own daughter start the college search process, expecting my first grandchild in less than a month, celebrating my fourth wedding anniversary and celebrating each of my children's milestones daily. I also enjoy the times I get to just be me! I love my new kindle and the opportunities to read, love to save money and cut coupons and love my church family. I can be opinionated, but try to be loving and kind and understanding. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was born to be a Momma Bear and Wife. I wouldn't change that for the world.
